Fear Of Heights
Fear of heights (also known as Acrophobia) is a common and sometimes appropriate feeling. Fear of heights phobia is one of the most widespread of fears. (“Vertigo” is often used, incorrectly, to describe the fear of heights, but it is more accurately described as a spinning sensation, which may be caused by looking down from a high place, as well as by some other stimuli.) Some of the common symptoms of fear of heights are a hot flushed feeling, a rapidity in your level of heart beat, sudden and intense panic. You also tend to suffer from muscle tension and there is occasional trembling and maybe a shortness of breath. When you suffer from acrophobia, you tend to avoid situations like climbing a skyscraper, going on a mountainous path, climbing ladders, taking dangerous rides in amusement parks and avoiding everything to do with height and altitude. To overcome your acrophobia, (fear of heights) you need to program your unconscious mind with a healthy level of wariness and then use that wariness to replace your irrational terror. Of the many phobias that have been identified, one of the most common is acrophobia. Fear of heights can be dangerous, as sufferers can experience a panic attack in a high place and become too agitated to get themselves down safely. Acrophobia is characterized by marked anxiety upon exposure to heights, by avoidance of heights, and by interference in functioning as a result of this fear. However it is possible to overcome acrophobia once and for all using powerful hypnosis techniques. Medications alone will not overcome a fear of heights, but may be useful in conjunction with other forms of therapy. Hypnotherapy can help!
